Bookshop.org is an online platform that allows anyone to order any books they'd like while having a portion of the sale go to a bookstore of their choice. This allows you to support us even if you want a title that we don't carry. Typically, we can order a title for you even if we don't have it - but if you're in a time crunch, or you'd simply prefer to order it yourself, that is where bookshop.org comes in. It is a full-service site that will ship your books to you and handle all aspects of your order, including customer service. Then, we get a percentage. It's a win-win! I need more info. About Us Our Mission At All She Wrote Books, we think of “intersectional”, “feminist”, and “queer” as more than tokenized buzzwords. Rather, we see them as guiding lights for all who seek a safe and supportive space of people who love, respect, and care for each other. We are committed to supporting our neighbors and uplifting the voices that have been silenced for far too long. On our curated shelves, those whose stories have, for centuries, been forcibly rewritten can find themselves. We know an essential part of our work is encouraging meaningful conversations about race, gender, queerness, and more. We envision our store to be as much a gathering space as it is a place to find your next read. Donate to Gay It Forward Our Journey Founder, Christina, started All She Wrote Books in 2019 by partnering with local businesses in Somerville such as the Canopy Room at Bow Market and Winter Hill Brewing Company, asking them if she could bring her 3-shelf, beige Ikea cart of new and used books written by these authors and set herself up in a small section of their stores. In July of 2020, All She Wrote Books opened its first brick-and-mortar location at Assembly Row in Somerville. In November 2023, after being displaced from their first location, opened its doors in East Somerville on Washington Street, one of the coolest areas in the city. Who We Are Christina, Owner As a queer person and survivor of domestic abuse, Christina went digging for stories that she could relate to, and found that they were out there—but they tended to get less shelf space and be shortchanged by publishers and book reviewers. Being an avid reader, she often felt unrepresented by bookshelves and online recommendations showcasing what was already popular.

We do not stock books that promote bigotry, deny people’s humanity or rights, spread harmful misinformation, glorify oppression, or undermine the creative labor and consent of artists and writers. Our Values We prioritize authors and creators who: are members of historically oppressed communities feature protagonists and communities who are frequently excluded, erased, stereotyped, or treated as secondary in mainstream publishing believe in human creativity and do not use AI in any of their work What we WILL NOT stock Conduct & Ethics We may choose not to stock titles of any authors or creators that: publish through Amazon, a company that is actively and intentionally undercutting and harming indie bookstores conflict with our commitment to a celebratory and respectful space for queer and trans people, people of color, women, disabled people, immigrants, survivors, and other marginalized readers promote, excuse, or normalize racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, ableism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, fatphobia, or other forms of bigotry deny the dignity, safety, civil rights, or lived reality of marginalized people advocate for discrimination, exclusion, censorship, forced conversion, deportation, segregation, or violence against marginalized communities have demonstrated an ongoing pattern of harassment, abuse, intimidation, discrimination, or targeted cruelty toward others use plagiarism, exploitation, AI, stolen artwork, or other violations of creative labor and consent use dehumanizing language, slurs, stereotypes, or conspiratorial claims spread misinformation about health, identity, race, religion, or historically targeted communities, including misrepresenting history or current events in ways that sanitize oppression or glorify systems of domination profit from cultural appropriation AI Use We absolutely WILL NOT STOCK any writers or creators who: use AI to write or edit any part of their book(s), or create any part of their designs fail to disclose AI use participate in AI practices that conflict with creators' rights and/or consent If we find out any of these are true about a creator we already carry, their products will be removed from our store and we will not carry them going forward.
