Our Commitment

We are committed to uplifting the voices that have historically been forcibly rewritten or erased, and to create a space where those communities can find themselves and feel valued. We do not stock books that promote bigotry, deny people’s humanity or rights, spread harmful misinformation, glorify oppression, or undermine the creative labor and consent of artists and writers.

We prioritize authors and creators who:

• are members of historically oppressed communities

• feature protagonists and communities who are frequently excluded, erased, stereotyped, or treated as secondary in mainstream publishing

• believe in human creativity and do not use AI in any of their work

What we WILL NOT stock

Conduct & Ethics

We may choose not to stock titles of any authors or creators that:

• publish through Amazon, a company that is actively and intentionally undercutting and harming indie bookstores 

• conflict with our commitment to a celebratory and respectful space for queer and trans people, people of color, women, disabled people, immigrants, survivors, and other marginalized readers

• promote, excuse, or normalize racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, ableism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, fatphobia, or other forms of bigotry

• deny the dignity, safety, civil rights, or lived reality of marginalized people

• advocate for discrimination, exclusion, censorship, forced conversion, deportation, segregation, or violence against marginalized communities

• have demonstrated an ongoing pattern of harassment, abuse, intimidation, discrimination, or targeted cruelty toward others

• use plagiarism, exploitation, AI, stolen artwork, or other violations of creative labor and consent

• use dehumanizing language, slurs, stereotypes, or conspiratorial claims 

• spread misinformation about health, identity, race, religion, or historically targeted communities, including misrepresenting history or current events in ways that sanitize oppression or glorify systems of domination

• profit from cultural appropriation

AI Use

We absolutely WILL NOT STOCK any writers or creators who:

• use AI to write or edit any part of their book(s), or create any part of their designs

• fail to disclose AI use

• participate in AI practices that conflict with creators' rights and/or consent

If we find out any of these are true about a creator we already carry, their products will be removed from our store and we will not carry them going forward.
