All She Wrote Books, 451 Artisan Way, Somerville, MA 02145, USA

About the Event

Join us in-person at All She Wrote Books on Thursday, October 12th at 5:00pm to help us say goodbye to the place we have called home for the last 3 years!

Starting at 5:00pm, we will have Quick Connections, which is speed friend-working with other local queers (similar to our Adult Queer Story Hours). Quick Connections will be followed by an amazing author panel, starting at 7:30pm, discussing about bringing the trans/non-binary experience into fiction writing, including authors Sim Kern, Kyle Lukoff, and Aden Polydoros. The panel will be moderator by Shoshana Flax from the Horn Book.

This event has pay-what-you-like tickets, which 100% of the proceeds will go to our capital campaign to help us move into our new space in East Somerville. All She Wrote Books has launched a campaign to raise the necessary $60,000 to make their move feasible. Our new home needs some love and your help can make that possible. The funds from this crowdfunding campaign will allow us to purchase bookshelves and other fixtures, a checkout counter, continue its community events, and pay staff fair wages during this busy, transitional time.

"Inclusivity" isn't just a buzzword to us. We make every effort to ensure our space and events are accessible to and for everyone. If you or someone in your party needs accommodations, please email us at info@allshewrotebooks.com.

About Sim Kern

Sim Kern is a Gulf Coast author and environmental journalist. Their debut horror novella, Depart, Depart!, was selected for the Honor List for the 2020 Otherwise Award, and their short story collection, Real Sugar is Hard to Find, was hailed in a starred review by Publishers Weekly as, “a searing, urgent, but still achingly tender work that will wow any reader of speculative fiction.” As a journalist, they report on petrochemical polluters and drag space billionaires. Sim spent ten years teaching English to middle and high schoolers in Houston, Texas, before shifting to writing full-time. They live near Brays Bayou with their spouse, two kids, and a very good dog.

About Kyle Lukoff

Kyle Lukoff is the author of many books for young readers. His debut middle-grade novel, Too Bright To See, received a Newbery honor, the Stonewall award, and was a National Book Award finalist. His picture book When Aidan Became A Brother also won the Stonewall, and his book Call Me Max has been banned in schools across the country. He has forthcoming books about apologies, vegetables, death, unicycles, and lots of other topics. While becoming a writer he worked as a bookseller for ten years, and then nine more years as a school librarian. He hopes you're having a nice day.

About Aden Polydoros

Aden Polydoros is an award-winning author who transitioned from female-to-male when he was 14. After going ‘stealth’ for over 10 years, he came out as transgender in order to support trans youth and vocalize how transitioning saved his life. His YA gothic fantasy novel, The City Beautiful, won the Sydney Taylor Book Award and was a finalist for the Lambda Award, the National Jewish Book Award, the Cybils Award, the South Carolina Book Award, and the 2022 World Fantasy Award.
