About the Book

Brianna Craft knows what it means to live in a hostile home environment. As a child, she was left crying on the floor after an argument, bruises already forming. It would take a college internship with the Least Developed Countries Group to show her that an unsafe home isn’t necessarily confined to a house. The climate crisis our emissions have fueled has created a hostile environment. And, as Craft learned during her time working with the Group composed of the world’s poorest countries, it is often those most ignored who are the most impacted.

This connection between what goes on in a house and how we treat our shared home reminded Craft of what it felt like to grow up knowing the loudest voice always won. And so she found her own voice—in rooms filled with the world's most powerful people. She worked with the LDC Group during the United Nations' negotiations for a new climate change treaty and, four years later, witnessed the adoption of the Paris Agreement. Today, she continues her work as a senior researcher at the International Institute for Environment and Development.

Weaving the personal with the political, the past with the present, Craft explores what it means to use your voice to advocate for a future on this shared home we call Earth.

About the Author

Based in London, she researches climate diplomacy, taking specific interest in the Paris Agreement and provisions to develop and transfer technology. Craft holds a master’s degree in environmental studies from Brown University in addition to a bachelor’s degree in architectural studies and minors in urban design and planning, and environmental studies from the University of Washington.
